Incorporated on February 12, 2008, Castle Pines is a city of about 10,000 residents located approximately 20 miles south of Denver in Douglas County, Colorado.

Size: The City of Castle Pines covers approximately 6,114 acres or 9.55 square miles. The 2008 incorporation of Castle Pines included 2,437 acres which extended west and north to Daniels Park and Highlands Ranch open space, south to the unincorporated area of Castle Pines Village and originally east to Interstate 25.  The 2009 annexation of the Canyons property added 3,342 acres, extending the City’s municipal boundaries east of I-25.

Elk Ridge Park

Located off Mira Vista Lane, just north of the American Academy Charter School, Elk Ridge Park is the latest addition to the Castle Pines’ recreation facilities. The park features a multi-purpose synthetic turf field, miles of walking trails, a playground and climbing wall, water play fountain, picnic pavilions, art features, and fun educational features to learn about the early history of Colorado. Elk Ridge is maintained by the City of Castle Pines.

Retreat Park

This park is located on Tangleoak Lane, nestled in “The Retreat” neighborhood of Castle Pines. It is approximately five acres and features a large playground area, a multi-purpose field, a baseball field, covered picnic pavilions with grills, and a walking trail area. This park is maintained by the CPN Metro District.

Coyote Ridge Park

The park is located northeast of the intersection of Monarch Boulevard and Hidden Pointe Boulevard, and is surrounded by open space and walking trails. Coyote Ridge Park is approximately 15 acres and features two multi-purpose fields, a baseball field, a playground with three covered picnic pavilions and BBQ grills, and a skateboard park with shaded pavilions and picnic tables. This park is maintained by the CPN Metro District.

Daniel's Gate Park

This two-acre park is located on Daniel’s Gate Road just north of the “Turquoise Terrace” neighborhood on Griggs Road. It features a playground area with infant and toddler swings, a shaded gazebo area, and a grass multi-purpose field. This park is maintained by the CPN Metro District.

Daniels Park

Daniels Park is one of largest parks in Denver Mountain Park system. The 1,000-acre historic ranch in Douglas County is known for its bison herd, dramatic view of the mountains, historic ranch buildings, distinctive stone shelter, and Tallbull Memorial Grounds. Most of the park is a Bison preserve and natural area where visitors can view the animals in a high-plains habitat. The park also features a picnic area, tables, and grills.

Cherokee Castle & Ranch

A mere 30 minutes south of Denver stands the most unique venue in all Colorado: Scottish-inspired Cherokee Castle & Ranch. Rising high above 3,400 protected acres, the awesome 200-mile views – from Pike’s Peak to Long’s Peak and beyond – are renowned as best in the West. This preserve is also home to antelope, bears, cougars, elk, mountains lions, wild turkeys and porcupines – along with the glorious Santa Getrudis cattle that make up their successful cattle ranch.

The Ridge at Castle Pines North, a premier Troon Golf managed facility, is one of Colorado’s most prestigious and upscale public golf courses. Since opening in 1997, The Ridge has received both national and statewide recognition in various publications.

The Ridge has four sets of tees that measure from 5,000 yards to more than 7,000 yards in length.

Douglas County Libraries in Castle Pines is located in the heart of the Village Square and boasts 13,000 square feet of space for community and event use, plus an additional 2,000 square feet dedicated to City offices. The library offers an expansive selection of materials for borrowing; dedicated Storytime space; a café-like lounge and holds area; a sunken media lounge upstairs; five high-tech, multi-use meeting, event and study spaces; and a furnished second-story terrace with a fireplace. Other fun features of the library include lava tiles, a Lite-Brite-inspired wall of lights to encourage community creativity, and a future “green” roof adjacent to the terrace.


CPACF is a proud supporter of the arts in Castle Pines and puts on several events throughout the year, including the Summer Solstice Fair, Fall in the Foothills, hosting the Missoula Children’s Theater, and selling commemorative Castle Pines holiday ornaments. Castle Pines is fortunate to be located near and have easy access to some of the best shopping centers in the Denver area. Located 10 miles to the north of Castle Pines is the Park Meadow Retail Resort, home to over 185 retailers and restaurants. Within 10 miles to the south of the City is the Village at Castle Pines marketplace as well as the Outlets at Castle Rock.
